Every place has a musical story.

The problem is that those stories are scattered across books, documentaries, interviews, fan forums, and forgotten corners of the internet.

Every music fan knows the feeling.

Standing on a street in Soho, imagining David Bowie walking out of that building decades ago. Finding the location of an album cover. Or realizing (too late) that you just walked past the studio where one of your favorite records was made.

It all comes down to one question:

What's the musical story behind this place?

That question followed me every time I traveled.

I wasn't just looking for landmarks. I wanted to find the studio where an album was recorded, the venue where a band played before anyone knew them, the street corner from a cover photo, the neighborhood that shaped an artist.

So I started collecting those places.

Months of researching books, album credits, interviews, archives, and fan communities became B-Side Map: an independent app featuring more than 700 music landmarks across 12 cities, curated entirely by hand.

The goal was never to build the biggest database.

It was to help music fans experience cities differently.

Because London isn't just London once you understand how Soho shaped David Bowie. Every city reveals another layer when you explore it through music.

Music fans don't just visit places.

They follow stories.
